While many states do not have specific laws regarding beadlock wheels, most refer to the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) under Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). According to CFR Title 49, Part 571, wheels must meet certain safety requirements, including the ability to retain the tire during rapid deflation at speeds of 60 mph.
