LTL Freight Shipping: How Big-Item Delivery Works
Some of our larger items are too big for regular parcel carriers, so they ship by truck as LTL (less-than-truckload) freight. Here’s what to expect.
What freight costs
Freight items always carry a freight charge, and they aren’t included in our free shipping on orders of $69 or more. You’ll see the exact freight cost in your cart before you pay. Liftgate service adds a fee for both residential and business addresses. Select it at checkout if you need it.
Before delivery
The carrier usually calls 24–48 hours before delivery to schedule a time. Please give us a valid daytime phone number with voicemail at checkout so the carrier can reach you.
Home or business?
- Residential address: includes homes, apartments, and businesses run from a home. The carrier will usually call to make an appointment. We strongly recommend choosing liftgate service.
- Commercial address: a business site with tractor-trailer access and a loading dock. A liftgate is usually not needed.
Delivery without a liftgate
Choose this option with caution. Without a liftgate, you’re responsible for unloading the shipment from the truck, and drivers usually won’t help with heavy items. Have enough people or equipment ready.
When it arrives
Inspect the shipment before you sign. If the packaging or item is damaged, write it on the delivery receipt, take photos, and email support@goatstrail.com within 7 days of delivery. We’ll arrange a replacement or refund at our cost.
Returning a freight item
Unused freight items in their original packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Email support@goatstrail.com before you ship anything, and we’ll arrange a pickup. You pay the return freight, and the original freight charge isn’t refunded. See our full Return & Refund Policy.
